Get Active this Autumn Tips

Get Active this Autumn Tips

Autumn is upon us, the leaves are changing, the weather is getting colder and, if you’re anything like me, getting cosy and spending more time indoors.

This is natural so don’t feel guilty, when we look out the window and see a grey, dark and wet day going for a run is not normally the thing that springs to mind. It certainly doesn’t for me.

What can we do? Our bodies are healthiest when we are moving, so how do we keep moving through autumn and into winter?

Here are some tips that I think work really well.

Have a routine that fits with your life. I have a dog (Paddington as you’ll see on my insta feed), he will let me know if I don’t take him out for a walk, plus I like to go to the gym on my lunch break. I try to take the dog out regularly and aim for a gym session 2 times a week, 3 if I get the chance. Not everyone can do this but look at your routine and see what works for you. Walking the children to school a day or two a week, going out for a lunchtime walk twice a week. Gym on a couple of mornings or evenings. All these options are great, even putting some time aside at home to run through exercises you can do in your living room is fantastic. Do what works for you!

If you don’t fancy one activity, try swapping for something different. I have looked out the window and seen the pouring ran and thought ‘I don’t fancy a run today’. That’s fine, we all do it. But try and use the time to do another activity, go to the gym, go swimming or even do some core exercises in your front room. Remember to stick to your routine and adapt if you can.

Take to time to sort out your aches and pains. While your activity levels might slow down it can be a great time to sort out any niggles or injuries that you might have picked up. As much as early return to exercise and work is really important in rehabilitation sometimes reducing our exercise workload can give our bodies time to heal with help from some Chiropractic treatment now is as good a time as any.

If you are struggling with injuries and are looking for an awesome Chiropractor in Guildford then you know where to find me. Drop us a message, give us a call or book online.
