Great Back Care Tips
As a busy Guildford Chiropractor I spend a lot of our time advising patients on basic back care tips. It is often the case that a change of lifestyle or prevention of problems is the much better alternative to any physical treatment.
Here are 4 of our most simple yet effective pieces of advice;
- Posture – It is no real surprise that one of our biggest pieces of advice when it comes to back care is posture. If you have poor posture you’re almost certainly going to suffer from back pain. So sit up or stand up straight, lift your head up and stop slouching.
- Sit for less – Sitting down is a big problem for your overall health. We’re focusing on the back element in this piece and it is important you don’t sit longer than 30 minutes. All you need to do is get up for a couple of minutes, maybe make a tea or run an errand.
- Go for walks/Exercise – Regular exercise for your back is important and keeps it fit and healthy. So try walking more, to work or the shops for example. Maybe take up cycling or swimming for more intense exercise.
- Carry well – Distribute weight well, use 2 carrier bags instead of 1 or even use a rucksack. If you’re lifting heavy objects be sure to follow safe lifting practices.
