4 Tips for a Healthy 2020
A few tips to make 2020 a healthy and happy year!
It is important to eat a healthy and balanced diet to maintain good health. Eat a wide variety of foods in the right proportions, including at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day. Base your meals on starchy foods and making up the rest of your meal with protein, dairy and unsaturated fats.
Adults should do some type of physical activity every day. Do at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity a week, including at least 2 days of strengthening exercises that work all the major muscles (legs, hips, back, abdomen & chest).
Drink More Water
Did you know 70% of the human brain is made up of water? Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of fluid a day, including water, lower fat milk, sugar-free drinks and tea & coffee. If you do not like the taste of plain water, try sparkling water or add a slice of lemon or lime.
Most adults need between 6 to 9 hours sleep every night. Practice good sleep hygiene by ditching phones (& other blue-light screens) at least 30 minutes before bedtime and going to sleep at the same time every night. Stress, health conditions and lifestyle factors can affect the duration and quality of sleep.
